Driving a car
While driving to work this morning on Hwy #7, I came to a place where two lanes merged into one ... the car behind me on my left, shot ahead to pass me before the lanes merged ... I figured that this driver was really in a hurry and needed to get in front of me to motor on ... but I was wrong, this person was obcessed with passing me but, whe in front of me slowed way down ... the speed limit was 55 and they were going 48 ... what is that about?

Very absurd. If one passes, one must lead. obviously they do not know how to lead. General rule is 5-7 over, in a passing mode you must do 10 or you may be classified as a dufus. If you are not a leader in society, you follow. If you follow, you never lead, think about it...
I have a corollary. The car in front of me was only going about 10 mph. Fortunately, there were two lanes and I was able to pass. Then, she started roaring past me, gesturing w/ her thumb for me to get behind her! She was in no hurry, but didn't like for me to pass.
Why people are like this? Go figure.
Yes, such encounters are quite painful to my brain...but I have found situations such as these have been greatly reduced since I started driving with a metal baseball bat in my left hand.
These are the same people who drive side by side the slower traffic on the right making in impossible to pass. They are the keeper's of the speed. "YOU SHALL NOT PASS".
I too carry a softball bat but I find it more useful to just get up on their bumper, lay on the horn for a half mile before they realize that they may have made a mistake.
The only way to deal with these stupid shmucks is to intimidate them.
I drive a pile of crap truck, do you think I care if they slam on the breaks and I end up in their trunk? That would give me the opportunity to "get to know them" and then introduce them to my softball bat.
